Job Description
Organization: Islamic Relief Bangladesh Position: Assistant Project Officer (Water Quality Lab) Location: Cox’s Bazar (Ukhia) Role Overview: Islamic Relief Bangladesh is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Project Officer to play a critical role in our Humanitarian Crisis Response Programme. In this position, you will ensure the provision of safe and affordable drinking water for vulnerable communities. Your expertise in water quality monitoring and testing will directly enhance the welfare of the affected populations in Cox's Bazar. Conduct and oversee periodic water quality tests at various sources ensuring compliance with SPHERE, WHO, and organizational standards. Maintain documentation regarding water quality tests, and recommend corrective actions based on findings. Supervise emergency water treatment activities and engage with community members to promote hygiene standards. Coordinate with government authorities and other stakeholders to facilitate effective water quality management. Prepare regular reports on water quality and participate in project meetings to discuss ongoing initiatives and improvements. Qualifications and Experience: Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, or relevant engineering disciplines. A minimum of 3 years of experience in WASH programs, specifically in water quality monitoring and testing. Familiar with water quality regulations and standards relevant in a humanitarian context. Skills Required: Project management and implementation skills. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written in English.
