Education Requirements

Master of Science (MSc) in Fisheries, Biology, Oceanography, Environmental Science, or other related fields required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare study designs, protocols, and procedures for marine megafauna and fisheries surveys, socio-economic investigations, and policy or management impact assessments.
  • Plan and coordinate research logistics (e.g., recruitment and training of staff and interns, vessel hire).
  • Prepare training modules and lesson plans on research activities.
  • Conduct data analysis to assess population status and threats to marine wildlife.
  • Lead the reporting of research findings for donor reports and journals.
  • Collaborate with the community engagement officer for citizen scientist data collection.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting using software (R, ArcGIS)
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Bengali
  • Strong analytical thinking

Join Wildlife Conservation Society-Bangladesh as a Research Officer!The Wildlife Conservation Society seeks a dedicated and passionate Research Officer to support our Marine Conservation Program. This role focuses on impacting marine wildlife and sustainable fisheries through rigorous research and collaboration with a variety of stakeholders.Job Summary:The Research Officer works closely with the Manager, team members, and advisors to develop and analyze research related to marine megafauna and fisheries. This includes managing citizen science networks involving coastal fishermen and coordinating data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform conservation efforts.Major Responsibilities:Design and implement research protocols for marine surveys and socio-economic assessments.Coordinate logistics for research activities, including staff recruitment and training.Prepare and conduct special training modules for outreach and educational initiatives.Analyze data to determine the status and threats to marine wildlife.Compile research findings into reports and recommendations for stakeholders.Assist in community engagement and develop communication strategies to foster marine stewardship.Ensure safety and compliance in fieldwork practices.Manage project budgets and ensure financial accountability for research expenses.Minimum Education and Experience:Master of Science (MSc) in Fisheries, Environmental Science, Biology, or related fields.2-3 years of experience in field research or conservation science.Familiarity with data analysis software (such as R or ArcGIS) is preferred.The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and leadership skills, demonstrate a commitment to WCS values, and be able to communicate effectively in both English and Bengali.Job Location: Dhaka, BangladeshSalary: Tk. 40,000 - 50,000 MonthlyBenefits: Mobile bill, Weekly 2 holidays, Insurance, Yearly salary review, and more.If you are passionate about marine conservation and possess the required qualifications, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
